. The actress Maud Tree was born as Helen Maud Holt in London. She made her stage debut in 1878 with the play "Sweethearts". In 1883 she got married with the famous actor Herbert Beerbohm. Besides her performances in Shakespeare plays and Greek dramas she often took part in contemporary productions and comedies. On of her great successes was "School for Scandal" in the role of Lady Teazle. She made her film debut in 1916 with "Still Waters Run Deep" (16). It followed the silent movies "Little Dorrit" (20), after that followed a ten-year interruption bevore she acted again in front of the camera in 1930. To her talkies belong "Such Is the Law" (30), "The Private Life of Henry VIII" (33), "Early to Bed" (33) and "The Man Who Could Work Miracles" (36). Her daughter Viola Tree became also an actress as well as her grandson
