The actress Hedwid Bleibtreu was connected with the theater with all her heart therefore she appeared only rarely in movies during the silent movie era.
One of her first movie appearance should be her part in the international success "Die Herrin der Welt" (19) of director Joe May. After that sie played among others in the movie "Die Kurtisane von Venedig" (24).
With the rise of the sound film there was also an increase of her filmroles. She played successful in the movies "Scampolo - Ein Kind der Strasse" (32), "Pygmalion" (35), "Das Mädchen hinter Gittern" (36), "13 Stühle" (38), "Maria Ilona" (39) and "Frauen sind keine Engel" (43).
After the war she acted in "Alles Lüge" (49), in the classic "The Third Man - Der dritte Mann" (49) with Orson Welles and in "Gefangene Seele" (52).
