. The actor René Alexandre belonged to the pioneers of the French film and influence the time of commencement. He completed his studies at the conservatory in 1908 with two first prices in the fields "Tragedy" and "Comedy" and joined the Comédie Française in the same year. Although in 1908 he entered the new film business and took part in "Tarquin de Supberbe" (08), "Le roman d'un gueux" (08), "Pygmalion" (09) and "La Tosca" (09). In the next years came numerous silent movies into being like "Paillasse" (10), "Aimez-vous les uns les autres" (10), "Le devoir et l'honneur" (11), "Cadoudal" (11), "Notre-Dame de Paris" (11), "Femme fatale" (12), "Le roi de l'air" (13), "La reine de Saba" (13), "Les enfants d'Edouard" (14), "Le vieux cabotin" (15) and "Le Noël d'un vagabond" (15). Afterwards his engagement in movies diminished and he concentrate to the stage again. To his last silent movies belong "Perdue" (19), "La terre" (21), "Fleur du mal" (22) and "Tu m'appartiens!" (29). He only appeared seldom in front of the camera in the sound film era, to these productions belong "Jour de noces" (30), "La tête d'un homme" (33), "Paris New-York" (40) and "Les musiciens du ciel" (40). To his numerous honors belong the affiliation to the "Légion
d'honneur".
