Gabrielle Robinne

. The actress Gabrielle Robinne was very successful both on stage and in movies and is regarded to be the first French star of the silent movie. She made her film debut with "Le troubadour" (06), two years later followed her first huge success "L'assassinat du Duc de Guise" (08). She soon became a popular movie star and bewitched the audience with
her beauty and her acting abilities.
Her popularity kept undiminished in the second half of the 10's too and she took part in the productions "Le malheur qui passe" (15), "Zyte" (16), "La vie d'une reine" (17), "La proie" (17), "La route du devoir" (18) and "Les larmes du pardon" (19). Her engagement in front of the camera diminished from the 20's, to her few movies of those years belong "Destinée" (21), "Fleur du mal" (22) and "Lucile" (23). It followed a longer interruption and she dedicated to the theater again.
Again there was a longer interruption before she acted again in front of the camera at old age for "La prostitution" (62). At the age of 87 she appeared a last time in front of the camera for "Le journal d'un suicidé" (73). Gabrielle Robinne was married with the actor René
Alexandre.
