The actress Jane Birkin was born into an artistic family. Her mother
was the British actress Campbell (1916-2004).
She made her first stage experiences at the age of 17, two years later
she made her film debut with a small role in the movie "The Knack" (65).
Already the following year she had her breakthrough in Michelangelo
Antonio's movie "Blowup (66) and became well-known abroad too. She underpinned
her fame with the production "La piscine - Der Swimmingpool" (69) at Romy
Schneider's side.
But not her profession as an actress but the one as a singer catapulted
her into the limelight in one go. She sang together with her second husband
Serge Gainsbourg the scandalous song "Je t'aime moi non plus", in which
she snubbed and fascinated with her groaning.
She continued successfully her career as a singer as well as an actress.

(70), "Don Juan ou Si Don Juan était une femme... (73), "La moutarde

Jane Birkin separated from Serge Gainsbourg in 1918 and lived together
with director Jacques Doillon since then. She also acted in some of his
movies.
She was convincing with dramatic roles and showed her acting maturity.

"Evil Under the Sun - Das Böse unter der Sonne" (82), "Scarface" (82),

Her Brother Andrew Birkin is a well-known screenwriter, her daughters Charlotte
Gainsbourg and Lou Doillon are actresses.
Jane Birkin was also married with the famous filmcomposer John Barry.
