. The actor Kad Merad was born as Kaddour Merad in Sidi Bel Abbes in Algeria. As a teenager he was a drummer and singer in different bands, later followed appearances as an animator for the Club Med. Hi joined the radio "Oui FM" in 1990 where he created the duo "Kad et Olivier" with Olivier Baroux. They first worked only for the radio, later they also appeared on TV. Kad Merad played his first role in a movie in 1991 for "Tribunal" (91), it followed "Jour de chance au bâtiment C" (96), "Dialogue au summet" (96) and "Jeu de vilains" (99). After the turn of the millennium Kad Merad could intensify his film career and he took part in movies like "La stratégie de l'échec" (01), "La grande vie!" (01), "Les tombales" (02), "Le pharmacien de garde" (03) and finally "Mais qui a tué Pamela Rose?" (03) - his first box office hit. Afterwards the name Kad Merad has become widely known in France and he acted in numerous other movies, among them "Les clefs de bagnole" (03), "Les choristes" (04), "Les Dalton" (04), "Iznogoud" (05), "Les oiseaux du ciel" (06), "Je vais bien, ne t'en fais pas" (06) - for this movie he was awarded with the César, "Pur week-end" (07), "3 amis" (07) and of course "Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis" (08) at Dany Boon's side with whom he made several movies. "Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis" became the most successful French movie of all time with more than 20 milllion viewers. With this success he was catapulted to the first row of French actors together with Dany Boon. Other movies followed with "Modern Love" (08), "Safari" (09), "Le petit Nicolas" (09), "L'immortel" (10), "Monsieur Papa" (11), "La nouvelle guerre des boutons" (11), "Superstar" (12), "Le grand méchant loup" (13), "Supercondrique" (14) and "Disparue en hiver" (14).
