. The actor and director Rudolf Biebrach made an education as a wood-block engraver and worked in this profession for a few years. Beside it he took acting lessons. He made his stage debut in Giessen in 1890, afterwards followed engagements at different German cities, among others at the Thalia theater in Hamburg. The film business was in his focus at an early time in Biebrach's life and he became a busy movie actor and director from 1913. To his well-known movies as an actor of the 10s belong "Die Heldin vom Moulin-Rouge" (13), "Das Tal des Traumes" (14), "Tirol in Waffen" (14), "Märtyrerin der Liebe" (15), "Musketier Kaczmarek" (15), "Das grosse Schweigen" (16), "Dick Carter" (16), "Feenhände" (17), "Die Claudi vom Geiserhof" (17), "Christa Hartungen" (17), "Die Faust des Riesen" (17), "Das Geschlecht derer von Ringwall" (18), "Agnes Arnau und ihre Freier" (18), "Die Heimkehr des Odysseus" (18), "Die Dame, der Teufel und die Probiermamsell" (19) and "Rose Bernd" (19). But also as a movie director he was much in demand and he realised the productions "Ungarische Rhapsodie" (13), "Das Schicksal der Gabriele Stark" (15), "Märtyrerin der Liebe" (15), "Das grosse Schweigen" (16), "Gelöste Ketten" (16), "Die Ehe der Luise Rohrbach" (17), "Christa Hartungen" (17), "Die Claudi vom Geiserhof" (17), "Die Faust des Riesen" (17), "Des Geschlecht derer von Ringwall" (18), "Irrungen" (19), "Die rollende Kugel" (19) and "Die lebende Tote" (19). For many of his movies he appeared as an actor himself and in those years he often engaged the actress Henny Porten for the leading role. His creativity remained undiminished during the 20s both as an actor and director and he took part in numerous productions. As an actor he impesonated roles in "Die Legende von der heiligen Simplicia" (20), "Der Wahn des Philipp Morris" (21), "Kean" (21), "Die Liebe einer Königin" (23), "Carlos und Elisabeth" (24), "Die Verrufenen" (25), "Jugendrausch" (27), "Schuldig" (28), "Der Biberpelz" (28), "Zuflucht" (28), "Mary Lou" (28), "Kinder der Strasse" (29), "Der Mann mit dem Laubfrosch" (29) and "Kehre zurück! Alles vergeben!" (29). His works as a director - now he often worked together with the actress Lotte Neumann - include the movies "Monika Vogelsang" (20), "Die Tarantel" (20), "Moj" (20), "Das Abenteuer des Dr. Kircheisen" (21), "Die Schuld des Grafen Weronski" (21), "Kean" (21), "Schatten der Vergangenheit" (22), "Die suchende Seele" (25) and "Adam und Eva" (28). In the sound film era of the 30s Rudolf Biebrach only realised few more movies as a director like the documentary films "Am Rande der Sahara" (30) and "L'évolution mysterieuse dans l'oeuf" (30). However as an actor he remained busy till to his death. To his last movies belong "Liebe im Ring" (30), "Hokuspokus" (30), "Das Ekel" (31), "Zwischen Nacht und Morgen" (31), "Emil und die Detektive" (31), "Der schwarze Husar" (32), "Flüchtlinge" (33), "Gold" (34), "Prinzessin Turandot" (34), "Einer zuviel an Bord" (35), "Der höhere Befehl" (35), "Inkognito" (36), "Boccaccio" (36), "Fridericus" (37) and "Musketier Meier III" (38). His daughter Erika-Margot Biebrach became an actress too. Other
