. The screenwriter Hans Brennert finished his study for political science, philosophy and literature before he started his professional life as a journalist for the "Berliner Tageblatt". He also was active as an author for the radio and theater. He joined the film business in 1915 and he wrote the screenplays for numerous movies of the 10s. To these works belong the productions "Fräulein Tollheit" (15), "Das Geständnis der grünen Maske" (16), "Der lebende Tote" (17), "Die schwarze Loo" (17), "Der Fluch des Nuri" (18), "Der gelbe Schein" (18), "Die Geisha und der Samurai" (19), "Malaria" (19) and "Nocturno der Liebe" (19). In the silent movie era of the 20s he wrote the scripts for "Das eiserne Wrack" (20), "Algol" (20), "Die Frau von morgen" (21), "Des Teufels Advokat" (21),"Der Ritt in die Sonne" (26), "Die Frau ohne Namen" (27), "Am Rande der Welt" (27) and "Eine Nacht in Yoshiwara" (28). In those years he was a co-founder of the organization "Deutsche Bühnenschriftsteller und Bühnenkomponisten" as well as the director of the news agency of Berlin. His contribution to the film business diminished with the rise of the sound film. He wrote the screenplays "Mein Leopold" (31), "Die Hasenpforte" (36) and "Heimat" (38). Besides his activity as a screenwriter he also realised few movies as a director with "Der magische Gürtel" (20) and "Ufer der Arbeit" (20). Other
