Marie Debar

The actress Margit Debar was born in France but spent her childhood in Luxembourg. There she studied music and comedy at the conservatory.

Thanks to her gift in languages she made her film debut in Germany. There she acted in the movies „Ein Windstoss“ (42) and „Moselfahrt mit Monika“ (44).

She concentrated her cinematical career to France after the war. From the end of the 40s she appeared as Andrée Debar in the productions „Le bataillon du ciel“ (47), „Une mort sans importance“ (48) and „Le paradis des pilotes perdus“ (49).

Her most successful period followed in the 50s where she played numerous roles in front of the camera.
To these movies belong „Malaire“ (52), „Les sept péchés capitaux“ (52), „Le marchand de Venise“ (53), „Port du désir“ (55), „La garçonne“ (57), „Les gaités de l'escadrille“ (58) and „Le secret du Chevalier d'Eon“ (59).

Afterwards she retired from the film business as an actress but remained active as a production manager.
In this function she was part of the movies „Un roi sans divertissement“ (63), „The Southern Star“ (69), „Cannabis“ (70) and „Monsieur Papa“ (77).
