Peter Esser

1886 - 1970

.
.
The actor Peter Esser discovered his passion for acting when he was still at school, where he took part in various school plays.

Since his parents did not agree that their son should become an actor, he studied law and graduated with a doctorate in law. His brother Albert Esser became a medical doctor.

But the urge to act was greater for Paul Esser and despite his successful education he turned to the theater. Under Louise Dumont he was able to gain a foothold at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf and quickly established himself as a performer and speaker. Finally, he taught at the Düsseldorf Theater Academy, and Gustaf Gründgens was one of his students.

From 1921 Peter Esser also appeared for the first time in some silent movies like "Der Mord ohne Täter" (21), "10 Millionen Volt" (21), "Der Friedhof der Lebenden" (21), "Die Buddenbrooks" (23) and "Graf Chargon" (24).

After that he concentrated on the stage again. It took more than 30 years before he acted in front of the camera again.

Other movies with Peter Esser:
Die Trapp-Familie in Amerika (58) Kabale und Liebe (59) Ein Traumspiel (59) Bernadette Soubirous (61) Serie „Inspektor Hornleigh greift ein...: Der Mann aus Tanganjika“ (61)
