Paul Falkenberg 1903 - 1986 |

. The editor, director and producer Paul Falkenberg made first cinematical experiences as an editor assistant for Fritz Lang's "Die Nibelungen" (24) and for G.W. Pabst. He became the responsible editor in 1928 for the production "Abwege" (28) and in the 30s followed otherwell-known productions for which he was responsible for the editing. To these movies belong "1914, die letzten Tage vor dem Weltbrand" (31), "M" (31), "Die Koffer des Herrn O.F." (31), "Vampyr" (32), "Salto in die Seligkeit" (34) and "Rivalin der Zarin" (37). He also made first expriences as a director assistant for the movies "Die Büchse der Pandora" (29), "Tagebuch einer Verlorenen" (29) and "Moral um Mitternacht" (30). His film career ended in Germany with the rise of the National Socialist. He went to Paris and afterwards to Austria before he emigrated to the USA in 1938. In the emigration he was able to use his experiences he made in Germany and he was active as a director, editor and producer in the next years. Wo his works as a director belong "A Letter from Palstine" (45), "Gateway to Freedom" (46), "Day of Deliverance" (49),"Jackson Pollock 51" (51) and "Exodus" (57). As an editor he was resonsible for the movies "A Letter from Palestine" (45), "Spain in Exile" (46), "The Future Can be Theirs" (48), "A State is Born" (49), "More Than Defense" (51), "Window of Jerusalem" (53), "Modesta" (56), "Hideout in the Sun" (60) and "At War with the Experts" (64). His first movie as a producer was the Swiss production "Farinet ou l'or dans la montagne" (39) directed by Max Haufler. Afterwards followed other works as a producer with "A Letter from Palestine" (45), "Assingment Tel Aviv" (47), "Clearing the Way" (47), "Lincoln Speaks at Gettysburg" (50), "A Tuft of Grass" (51) and "Exodus" (57).
