. The Russian actor Wladimir Gaidarow began his film career in Russia with "Yeyo zhertva" (17) and "Otyets Sergei - Vater Sergius" (17) at Ivan Mosjoukin's side. In the following years he moved in different countries as an actor, besides France he expecially found rewarding roles in Germany. As a palefaced bewitch he acted in movies like "Der Mann mit der eisernen Maske" (22), "Der brennende Acker" (22) by F.W. Murnau, "Die Gezeichneten" (22), "Tragödie der Liebe" (23), "Helena" (24) and "Manon Lescaut" (26). With the arise of the sound film was his flexibility on the international parquet seriously reduced because of the different languages. He only appeared in some German productions - "Luise, Königin von Preussen" (31), "Nachtkolonne" (31) - and later in the Russian productions "Stalingradskaya bitva" (49), "Geroi Shipki" (54) and "Bare et liv - historien om Fridtjof Nansen (68). In 1930 he took on the position of a director for the movies "Wellen der Leidenschaft" (30) and "Kire lained" (30) but turned to the acting again afterward. When the National Socialists seized the power in Germany he returned
to his home country Russia.
