Alexis Granowsky

. The director Alexis Granowsky first worked together with Max Reinhardt in Munich before he went to Russia. There he founded the „Studio Tehater“ in Petersburg in 1919. One year later he worked at the Kammertheater in Moscow. He also realised his first movie as a director in Russia with „Evreyskoe schaste“ (25). He returned to Germany in 1928 where he again realised plays at the theater. There he realised some more movies at the beginning of the 30s. To these productions belong „Das Lied vom Leben“ (31) and „Die Koffer des Herrn O.F.“ (31). With the rise of the National Socialists he left Germany and went to France. There he made his last movies as a director with „Les aventures du roi Pausole“ (33), „Les nuits moscovites“ (34) and „Tarass Boulba“ (36). Only one year after his last movie Alexis Granowsky died at a heart failure. |
