Willem Holsboer

. The actor Willem Holsboer learnt his acting abilities by an apprenticeship at the theater school Feldern Förster in Munich. There he also made his stage debut in the play "Mit dem Feuer spielen" in 1927. He soon became established on the stage and in 1927 he was signed by the Munich Kammerspiele where he stayed till 1938. In 1938 followed the transition to the Munich Volkstheater where he also was active as a manager, an activity he carried on till 1950. Afterwards Willem Holsboer not only changed the theater but also left his hometown Munich and acted in Hamburg in 1951 and in Zurich from 1952 to 1953. Finally he returned to Munich again. During his time at the theater he was not only active as an actor and manager but also directed numerous plays. Willem Holsboer made his film debut in 1931 with "Kameradschaft" (31),
three years later followed the production "Peer Gynt" (34) with Hans Albers.
He was able to continue his career during the war both on stage and in movies. To these works belong "Was will Brigitte?" (41), "Alarmstufe V" (41), "Kleine Residenz" (42), "Einmal der liebe Herrgott sein" (42) and "Wo ist Herr Belling?" (45). He continued his career after the war and remained successful till to
his premature death, but his engagements remained limited to support roles.
Willem Holsboer was married with the actress Margot Rupp.
