. The actor Kurt Horwitz got acting lessons by the famous stage actor Ferdinand Gregori Schauspielunterricht before he started his stage career. After first engagements in Berlin he went to Munich in 1919 where he became a fixed staff of the Kammerspiele till 1933. He already appeared in 1915 in his first movie with "Fürst Seppl" (15), it followed only one more silent movie with "Mysterien eines Frisiersalons" (23). In the 30s followed support roles in movies like "Peter Voss, der Millionendieb" (32), "Die verkaufte Braut" (32),"Die Herrgottsgrenadiere" (32) and "Muss man sich gleich scheiden lassen" (33). His career in Germany ended with the rise of the National Socialist and he emigrated to Switzerland in 1933. There he continued his stage career at the Schauspielhaus in Zurich where he also directed several plays. It followed engagements in Basel where he became the manager of the Stadttheater Basel. He returned to Germany in 1952 and he worked at the Bavarian Staatsschauspiel in Munich. Although in the 50s he continued his film career, first with feature movies and from 1955 mostly with TV productions. To his well-known movies belong "Sauerbruch - Das war mein Leben" (54), "Der letzte Sommer" (54), "Die Panne" (57), "Spiel im Schloss" (59), "Maria Stuart" (63), the serial "Der seidene Schuh" (65), "Die Affäre Eulenburg" (67), "Zwischen gestern und morgen" (68), "Othello" (68) and "Der Rückfall" (69). Kurt Horwitz remained active as an actor till to his death. To his last movies belong an episode of the serial "Der Kommissar: Der Papierblumenmörder" (70), "Mein Freund Harvey" (70), "Die Beichte" (70) and an episode of the serial "Der kleine Doktor: Ein Toter fällt vom Himmel" (74).
