. The director, producer and screenwriter J. A. Hübler-Kahla already joined the film business in 1918 where he worked in different functions. He was part of short movies and documentaries without being named before he realised his first feature movie as a director in 1933. With "Schüsse an der Grenze" (33) he began his brief film career in the 30s. In the next years followed other directed movies like "Wenn ich König wär" (34), "Blutsbrüder" (35), "Durch die Wüste" (36), "Der geheimnisvolle Mister X" (36) and "Das Veilchen vom Potsdamer Platz" (36). Afterwards his career came to an abrupt end. In spite of faked papers it came out that he had a Jewish ancestry. He was sentenced in prison for several months, afterwards he was no longer able to work. Only after the end of World War II he was able to continue his film career. Besides movies as a director he also realised pictures as a screenwriter and producer. As a director he shot the productions "Die Welt dreht sich verkehrt" (47), "Mikosch rückt ein" (52), "Hollandmädel" (53), "Die Wirtin an der Lahn" (55) and "Geld sofort" (61). As a producer he realised the movies "Die Welt dreht sich verkehrt" (47), "Hin und her" (48), "Der Prozess" (48), "Meine Tante, deine Tante" (56), "Arzt aus Leidenschaft" (59) and "Frau Irene Besser" (61).
