. The actor Ernst Keppler began his stage career at the Prussian Staatstheater in Berlin. It followed engagements at other theaters in Berlin. He only appeared rarely in movies. His first movie was „Mazeppa, der Volksheld der Ukraine“ (19) directed by Martin Berger with Alfred Beierle, Max Gülstorff, Werner Krauss and Eva Speyer. It followed only one more movie with „Pömperly's Kampf mit dem Schneeschuh“ (23) at the side of Henry Bender, Josefine Dora, Antonie Jaeckel, Hilde Maroff and Hannes Schneider. With the rise of the National Socialists he went to the „Reichsministerium für Volksaufklärung“ and took over the function of a culture office of the theater department. His daughter Brigitte Keppler became an actress as well. |
