. The director Werner Klingler began his artistic career as a stage actor and he engaged led him not only to many German cities but also to the USA in 1925. There he got in touch with the film business and he impersonated small roles in productions like „The Case of Lena Smith“ (29), „City Girl“ (30), „Im Westen nichts Neues“ (30), „Journey's End“ (30) and „Hell's Angels“ (30). Back in Germany he was a member of the crew for movies like „Der Rebell“ (32) and „SOS Eisberg“ (32). Werner Klinger became established as a movie director from the middle of the 30s and he shot movies like „Die letzten Vier von Santa Cruz“ (36), „Standschütze Bruggler“ (36), „Condottieri“ (37) and „Liebesbriefe aus dem Engadin“ (38). During World War II he realised other movies like „Die barmherzige Lüge“ (39), „Die letzte Runde“ (40) „Wetterleuchten um Barbara“ (41), „Der Verteidiger hat das Wort“ (44) and „Die Degenhardts“ (44). After the war he was the director of the movies „Razzia“ (47) and „Arche Nora“ (48) before he went back to the USA again. There he acted again in few movies for „Target“ (51), „Assignment – Paris“ (52) and „Screaming Eagles“ (56). With his return to Germany in 1956 came his last movies as a director into being with „Spion für Deutschland“ (56), „Banktresor 713“ (57), „Aus dem Tagebuch eines Frauenarztes“ (59), „Arzt aus Leidenschaft“ (59), „Das Geheimnis des schwarzen Koffer“ (62), „Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse“ (62) and „Strassenbekanntschaften auf St. Pauli“ (68). For few of his early movies he also wrote the screenplay like „Die letzten Vier von Santa Cruz“ (36) and „Die barmherzige Lüge“ (39).
