. The actor Victor Kutschera could look back on a great theater career in the German-speaking area - among others he was engaged at the German Volkstheater - when he entered the early silent movie film. He made his stage debut at the Meininger Hoftheater in 1884 and from 1889 he appeared normally at the Deutsches Theater in Vienna where he was active as an actor and director. Beside it he had single engagements at the Burgtheater. He was already an esteemed character actor at the theater when he made his first step into the film business in 1911 with "Der Unbekannte (11) directed by Luise Kolm with Käthe Gold as a child actress. From the end of the 10s he appeared regularly in motion pictures like "Der letzte Erbe von Lassa" (19), "Die Kette" (20), "Die Würghand/Der Weibsteufel" (20) at Carmen Cartellieri's side and "Kleider machen Leute/Bräutigam auf Kredit" (21) with the still unknown Hans Moser. Although the theater remained his favourite file he continued to play in numerous movies in the next years. To these productions belong "Der Mann, der zweimal starb..." (22), "Parema, Creature from the Starworld" (22), "Bruder und Schwester/Das Gift der Borgia" (24), "Das verbotene Land" (24), "Oberst Redls Erben/Brandstifter Europas" (26) and "Seine Hoheit, der Eintänzer/Hotel Erzherzogin Viktoria/Das entfesselte Weib" with Anny Ondra and Bruno Kastner. His only sound film was "Die vom 17er Haus" (32). Victor Kutschera was married with the actress Elsa Sedlmayr. His daughter
Tilly Kutschera became an actress too and was very successful at the Burgtheater.
She committed suicide in 1920 at the age of only 29.
