Mely Lagarst

. The actress Mely Lagarst (also Nelly Lagarst) was born Amalie Strangl in Höhenrain. She began her artistic career in Munich in 1908, where she spoke the words in the song cycle “Die schöne Müllerin” alongside opera singer Raoul Walter. Over the next few years, further stage appearances followed at the Trianontheater in Berlin, the Kleines Theater in Hamburg and repeatedly in Munich. From 1915 she was able to launch a short but busy film career. She made her debut with “Die Einödpfarre” (15) at Marga Köhler's side, followed by the productions “Homunculus, 2. Teil: Das geheimnisvolle Buch” (16) with Olaf Fönss and Theodor Loos, “Der grüne Mann von Amsterdam” (16) with Erich Kaiser-Titz and Leontine Kühnberg, “Die Sündenkette” (17) with Theodor Loos and Richard Oswald's “Es werde Licht!” (17) with Bernd Aldor and Hugo Flink followed. To her last cinematical works belong “Das Recht auf Glück” (18) with Ria Witt and Eduard von Winterstein, “Komödianten” (19) and “Schiffbrüchige der Liebe” (21). Mely Lagarst was married in her first marriage with the actor Josef Coenen from 1916, in 1928 she got married with the locksmith Walter Kosse who already died in the same year.
