The actor Hannsgeorg Laubenthal took acting lessons in Cologne and was able to launch his professional career from 1930, among others at theaters in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Darmstadt and Berlin.
He especially delivered a brilliant performance in classic plays.

From 1937 he also appeared in movies, his first one was "Signal in der Nacht" (37) with Sybille Schmitz and Hannes Stelzer in the leading roles.

There were some more movies in the next years in which he acted together with the great stars of that time and Hannsgeorg Laubenthal impersonated support roles in each case.
To these movies belong Wolfgang Liebeneiner's "Der Florentiner Hut" with Heinz Rühmann and the prematurely deceased Herti Kirchner, "Die Rothschilds" (40) with Carl Kuhlmann, Erich Ponto and Albert Florath as well as "Bismarck" (40) with Paul Hartmann, Friedrich Kayssler and Lil Dagover.

After the war he not only continued his career on stage but also in the film business, first for DEFA in GDR, later also in West Germany.

To his well-known movies of those years belong "Das kalte Herz" (50), "Der Untertan" (51), "Schlussakkord" (60), "Das Attentat - Schleicher: General der letzten Stunde" (67) and the serial "Recht oder Unrecht: Prozess Marrotti" (70).
