Robert Leffler 1866 - 1940 |

. The actor Robert Leffler began his career as an opera singer before he joined the film business in 1918. There he directed his first movie following his passion with "Der TaktstockRichard Wagners" (18). He soon became a busy movie director in the next few years and he realised movies like "Der Mann im Monde" (18), "Die Beichte des Mönchs" (18), "Der Selbstmörder" (18), "Das Geheimnis der alten Truhe" (19), "Die ums Leben spielen" (19) and "Der Fall Tolstikoff" (19). From 1919 Robert Leffler also became a demanded movie actor, first in "Im Schatten des Glücks" (19) and "Angelo, das Mysterium des Schlosses Drachenegg (19). In the 20s followed numerous engagements and he impersonated very different support roles. To these works belong "Schloss Vogeloed" (21), "Der Abenteurer" (22), "Der brennende Acker" (22), "Der Mann aus Stahl" (22), "Friedrich Schiller" (23), "Wilhelm Tell" (23), "Die Buddenbrooks" (23), "Horrido" (24), "Auf Befehl der Pompadour" (24), "Komödianten" (25), "Die Wiskottens" (26), "Bismarck 1862-1898" (27), "Die Welt ohne Waffen" (27) and "Mädchen am Kreuz" (29). With the rise of the sound film he retired from the film business. Only for the productions "Elisabeth von Österreich" (31) and "Onkel Bräsig" (36) he appeared in front of the camera for the last time. His brother Hermann Leffler became an actor as well.
