Leo Leux

. The filmcomposer Leo Leux was born as Gottlieb Wilhelm Leuchs in Munich. He began his musical career as a bandmaster, later followed compositions at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm. Afterwards Leo Leux wrote the music for several revues which made him well-known to the audience. Leo Leux did not have his forst contact with the film business as a composer but as an actor in support roles. To his appearances in front of the camera belong "Der Diener des Herrn Baron" (19), "Die lila Hölle" (20), "Das sonnige Märchen vom Glück" (24) and in later years also "Truxa" (37) and "Es leuchten die Sterne" (38). He got his first engagement as a filmcomposer in 1930 for "Susanne macht Ordnung" (30) and in the next years followed numerous engagements for writing the film music. To his well-known works of the 30s belong "Tod über Shanghai" (32), "Die vertauschte Braut" (34), "Klein Dorrit" (34), "Knockout" (35), "Der schüchterne Casanova" (37), "Arzt aus Leidenschaft" (36), "Moral" (36), "Truxa" (37), "Der Biberpelz" (37), "Es leuchten die Sterne" (39) and "Robert und Bertram" (39). Leo Leux wrote the music for other popular productions till to the end of World War II like "Der Herr im Haus" (40), "Meine Tochter tut das nicht" (40), the animation "Der Störenfried" (40), "Alarmstufe V" (41), "Meine Freundin Josefine" (42), "Einmal der liebe Herrgott sein" (42) and "Der Täter ist unter uns" (44). He was able to continue his career as a filmcomposer after the war but he only had few more years left to demonstrate his abilities. To his last cinematical works belong "Spuk im Schloss" (47), "Münchnerinnen" (49) and "Torreani" (51).
