. The actor Arthur Mainzer began his career in Stuttgart where he appeared at the Schwäbische Volksbühne in 1920. Afterwards he acted at the Neues Theater in Stuttgart before he went to Berlin in 1925 acting on different stages. In Berlin he got in touch with the film business and he impersonated his first role in front of the camera in „Gewitter über Gottland“ (27). In the 30s he played numerous support roles in movies like „Berlin-Alexanderplatz“ (31), „Die Koffer des Herrn O.F.“ (31), „Der Hauptmann von Köpenick“ (31), „Yorck“ (31), „Der Stolz der 3. Kompanie“ (32), „Der Sieger“ (32) and „Eine Stadt steht kopf“ (33). Arthur Mainzer had to leave Germany in 1933 because as a Jew he was no longer able to work. He first emigrated via Czechoslovakia and Austria to Hungary where he took part in the movie „Bubi“ (37). Finally he emigrated to England where he continued his acting career. In England he used the pen name Arthur Reynolds and he appeared in movies like „The Swiss Family Robinson“ (39), „State Secret“ (50) and „Gone to Earth“ (50). He returned to Germany in 1951 and acted again at the theater regularly. His last cinematical work was „Sündige Grenze“ (51). Other movies with Arthur Mainzer: Wer nimmt die Liebe ernst...?
