. The actor Kurt Meisel dedicated his whole passion to the theater but he also got interesting roles in many movies. He began as an unpaid trainee an the Viennese Volkstheater, in 1933 he made his theater debut in Munich with Sheakespeare's "Wie es euch gefällt". He began his film career in the middle of the 30's and continued it till to the 80's. To his first movies belong "Klein Dorrit" (34), "Schlussakkord" (36), "Die göttliche Jette" (37), "Nanon" (38) and "Das Ekel" (39). He also was active at theaters and in movies during wartime. He impersonated roles in movies like "Der Feuerteufel" (40), "Der grosse König" (42), "Die goldene Stadt" (42) and "Kolberg" (45). Kurt Meisel started a second career as a director after the war but
he continued working as an actor as well.
As an actor he impressed with his acting abilities in "Emil und die Detektive" (54), "Es geschah am 20. Juli" (55), "Gestatten, mein Name ist Cox" (55), "Der veruntreute Himmel" (58) and "Zeit zu leben und Zeit zu sterben" (58). His activity dropped slowly off in the 60's yet he took part in some interesting movies. To these movies belong "The Longest Day - Der längste Tag" (62), "Michael Kohlhaas - der Rebell" (69), the serial "Der Kurier des Zaren" (70), "The Odessa File" (74) and "Bitte lasst die Blumen leben" (86). Kurt Meisel was Oberspielleiter of the Munich Staatsschauspiel, after
that director an the Wiener Burgtheater. Finally he took over the directorship
of the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel München from 1972 to 1983.
