. The actor and director Max Neufeld was born as Massimiliano Neufeld. He began his career at the end of the 1910's in Austria. There he appeared among others at the Josefstädter theater. To his ealry movies as a director belong "Der ledige Hof" (19), "Der tote Hochzeitsgast" (21), "Der Eisenkönig" (23) and "Hoffmanns Erzählungen" (24) where he appeared as an actor simultanously. Max Neufeld was busy as a director as well as an actor in the following years. To his later silent movies belong "Ein Walzer von Strauss" (25), "Dr. Bessels Verwandlung" (27) and "Rasputin" (29). He was also able to work successful in the sound film era and he realised movies like "Eine Nacht im Grandhotel" (31), "Glück über Nacht" (32) and "Der Diamant des Zaren" (32). In 1933 he was drove out of Germany by the National Socialists because of his Jewish root. He based in Austria, later he went to Italy and Spain. In the 30's and 40's he worked for the movies "La canzone del sole" (34), "La casa del peccato" (38), "Taverna rossa" (40), "Fortuna" (40), "Un uomo ritorna" (46) and "L'inconnu d'un soir" (48). His last film works came into being in the 50's and beared the titles "Dein Mund verspricht mir Liebe" (54) and "Der schönste Tag meines Lebens" (57). His brother Eugen Neufeld was also a famous
actor.
