. The actor Max Pohl had his greatest successes at German theaters, he only appeared seldom in front of the camera. Besides his acting he was also active behind the scenes, he was among others president of the Bühnen-Genossenschaft. He retired from this task in 1908. He made his film debut in 1919 with "Der Eid des Stephan Huller" (19), it followed "Die Marchese d'Arminiani" (20), "Dieb und Weib" (20) and "Das grosse Licht" (20). Other silent movies with Max Pohl were "Lucrezia Borgia" (22), "Monna Vanna" (22), "Der Mensch am Wege" (23) and "Lebende Buddhas" (24). Max Pohl's only talky was the successful production "Der Mörder
Dimitri Karamasoff" (31).
