. The filmcomposer Anton Profes finished an education as a musicologist in Prague, afterwards he got engagements as a bandmaster, first in Karlsbad, later in other cities like Hamburg and Berlin among others. He gave up his activity as a bandmaster in 1921 and he became a freelance omposer of well-known hit songs which made him well-known to a huge audience. Some of his hits were "Kauf Dir einen bunten Luftballon" and of course "Am Sonntag will mein Süsser mit mir segeln geh'n". Because of his success the film business became aware of him too and Anton Profes wrote many film compositions from 1930. To his popular works of those years belong "Der keusche Josef" (30), "Vorstadtvariete" (35), "Der Favorit der Kaiserin" (36), "Hannerl und ihre Liebhaber" (36), "Gastspiel im Paradies" (38), "Leinen aus Irland" (39), "So gefällst Du mir" (41), "Schicksal" (42), "Sommerliebe" (42), "Der weisse Traum" (43) and "Hundstage" (44). He was able to continue his career as a filmcomposer successfully after the war and he wrote the music for productions like "Umwege zu dir" (47), "Gottes Engel sind überall" (48), "Maresi" (48), "Der Feldherrnhügel" (53), "König der Manege" (54), "Mädchenjahre einer König" (54), "Der veruntreute Himmel" (58), "Gustav Adolfs Page" (60) and "Forever My Love" (62). For most moviegoers especially his compositions for the Sissi movies may be remembered today. To these movies belong "Sissi" (55), "Sissi - Die junge Kaiserin" (56) and "Sissi - Schicksalsjahre einer Kaiserin" (57).
