1911 - 2002

Norbert Schultze attended first music lessons in his childhood. At the age of 18 he began to compose and wrote among others the stage music for „Was ihr wollt“ by Shakespeare.

After a conductor training he dedicated to the composition of entertainment music from 1934.
He had his first great success in 1936 with the opera „Der schwarze Peter“. In the same year he found out his interest in film music. And with his world hit "Lili Marleen" (38) all the doors opened for the young composer.

Norbert Schultze wrote the music to movies like „Bismarck“ (40), „Aus erster Ehe“ (40), „Kampfgeschwader Lützow“ (41), „Ich klage an“ (41), „Der Fall Rainer“ (42), „Die Affäre Rödern“ (44), „Eine kleine Sommermelodie“ (44) and „Kolberg“ (45) till the end of war.

After the war he concentrated to the film music again, later followed compositions for TV too.
To his well-known post-war movies belong "Käpt'n Bay-Bay" (53), "Rittmeister Wronski" (54), "Roman einer Siebzehnjährigen" (55), "Die Mädels vom Imenhof" (55), "Wie einst Lili Marleen" (56), "Das Mädchen Rosemarie" (58) and "Der Gauner und der liebe Gott" (60).

Norbert Schultze judged himself as an absolute apolitical person. But he had the bad luck to live in an extreme politicized time and his skills were used for the propagandist machinery.
