. The actor Luigi Serventi began his career at the theater in 1911 where he first worked for Vittoria Lepanto. It followed engagements by Ermete Novelli and Ettore Berti. He already joined the Italian film business in 1912 where he soon became a demanded actor. To his movies of the 10s belong "Dal fango" (12), "Bianco contro negro" (13), "La barca nuziale" (13), "Vizio atavico" (14), "La fuga degli amanti" (14), "Mezzanotte" (15), "Il vetturale del Moncenisio" (16), "Il maleficion anello" (16), "Il re, le Torri e gli Alfieri" (17), "La figlia del mare" (17), "La bohème" (17), "Napoleoncina" (18), "Il padrone delle ferriere" (19) and "Noris" (19). Luigi Serventi became one of the most popular Italian silent movie stars and in the 20s he also often took part in German silent movies as well which made him well-known abroad too. To his well-known works of those years belong "La storia di una donna" (20), "Il volto di Medusa" (20), "Brennendes Herz" (22), "Sterbende Völker" (22), "Bohème - Künsterliebe" (23), "Bob und Mary" (23), "Der Roman der Lilian Hawley" (24), "Finale der Liebe" (25), "Der Mann seiner Frau" (26), "Maciste nella gabbia dei leoni" (26), "Die Ausgestossenen" (27), "Die raffinierteste Frau Berlins" (27), "Das Geheimnis von Genf" (28), "Leontines Ehemänner" (28), "Canastorie di Venezia" (29) and "Erotikon" (29). Like many actors and actress of that time he did not manage the transition to the sound film and therefore he only appeared in few movies of the 30s. To his last movies belong "Berge in Flammen" (31) and "Standschütze Bruggler" (36). Afterwards he lived in Kitzbühl for many years before he moved back to Italy at the old age. He died in Rome at the age of 91. Besides his activity as an actor Luigi Serventi also realised few movies as a director like "Le mogli e le arance" (17) and "Sprema bellezza" (21).
