. The actor Fritz Spira belonged to the pioneers of the German silent movie, his first appearances can be backdated to the year 1910 with "Pro patria". In the next years followed other movies like "Auf dem Meeresgrund" (12), "Die Perle" (14), "Die Krone des Lebens" (18) and "Nachtasyl" (19). His engagements in front of the camera increased in the 20's and he took part in well-known productions like "Gräfin Mariza" (25), "Die rote Maus" (25), "Nanette macht alles" (26), "Die dritte Eskadron" (26), "An der Weser" (27) and "Die Vierte von rechts" (29). His last movies came into being in the 30's. He was convincing in "Rasputin, Dämon der Frauen" (30), "Liebling der Götter" (30), "Die vom Rummelplatz" (30), "Der Feldherrnhügel" (32), "Johnny stiehlt Europa" (32), "Der Choral von Leuthen" (33) and "Marie Bashkirtseff" (36). His career in the National Socialist Germany was sealed as a Jew. He wasn't able to work. He tried to leave Austria and even already has a visa in his hands but was arrested before he could leave and was locked up in a concentration camp. There he was killed in 1943. Fritz Spira was married with the actress Lotte Spira. His daughtes Steffie
and Camilla Spira became both actresses.
