. The screenwriter Julius Urgiss began his career as a film critic and journalist for the journal "Der Kinematograph". Therefore he got an immerged insight to the film business and finally he wrote his first screenplay in 1915 for "Die Schaffnerin der Linie sechs" (15). Julius Urgiss became a demanded screenwriter from 1918 and he wrote the scripts for "Die blaue Mauritius" (18), "Arme Lena" (18), "Der Trompeter von Säckingen" (18), "Morphium" (19), "Störtebeker" (19) and "Die Sekretärin des Gesandten" (19). He already began his collaboration with the screenwriter Max Jungk in those years which lasted till to the middle of the 20s. The 20s marked the height of his cinematical career and he wrote numerous screenplays like "Whitechapel" (20), "Hannerl und ihre Liebhaber" (21), "Eine Frau mit Vergangenheit" (21), "Die Tigerin" (22), "Brigantenrache" (22), "Die Strasse" (23), "Nanon" (24), "Bismarck, 1. Teil" (25), "Die elf schillschen Ofiziere" (26), "Da hält die Welt den Atem an" (27) and "Auf der Reeperbahn nachts um halb eins" (29). His last screenplays came at the beginning of the 30s into being. To these works belong "Skandal um Eva" (30), "Kohlhiesels Töchter" (30), "Panik in Chicago" (31), "Luise, Königin von Preussen" (31) and "Ich will Dich Liebe lehren" (33). With the rise of the National Socialism Julius Urgiss had to leave Germany and he went to the USA. He was married with the singer Gerty Lewin. Other
