Valberg

. The actor Robert Valberg was born as Robert von Dirr in Vienna. He began his acting career at the Stadttheater of Troppau in 1902, one year later he went to Salzburg and finally to Vienna. He was able to launch his film career at the beginning of the silent movie era of the German film. To his first movies belong "Die Verräterin" (11), "Die Geschichte der stillen Mühle" (14) and "Lache Bajazzo" (15). He continued successfully his career in the 20's with movies like "Die Schuldigen" (22), "Ssanin" (24) and "Seine Hoheit, der Eintänzer" (27). He normally impersonated support roles in the 30's, especially in operetta movies. To his well-known movies of the 30's belong "Die Pompadour" (35), "Premiere" (36), "Wo die Lerche singt" (36), "Zauber der Boheme" (37), "Die unruhigen Mädchen" (38) and "Ich bin Sebastian Ott" (39). When the National Socialists took over the power in Austria he appreciated it. He later was appointed to the Landesleiter of the Reichstheaterkammer in Vienna. Robert Valberg only appeared in few more movies after the war, so in
"Maria Theresia" (51) and "Hab' ich nur deine Liebe" (53).
