. The cinematographer Friedrich Weinmann did not enter the film business via a profession as a photographer like many other early cinamtographers but finished an education for graphics in Dresden. He already made first experiences in the film business from 1908 and from 1913 he became a cineatographer of many movies. To his first productions belong "Die Insel der Seligen" (13), "Die Firma heiratet" (14), "Eine venezianische Nacht" (14), "Der Stolz der Firma" (14) and "Carl und Carla" (15). His film career became interrupted during World War I when he served for the "Bild- and Filmamt" for which he shot aerial photographs. He became established as a cinematographer in the second half of the 10s and he was engaged for "Der Fakir" (18), "Die Pantherbraut" (19), "Malaria" (19) and "Aberglaube" (19). The 20s offered him again numerous engagements and Friedrich Weinmann was responsible as a cinematographer for the silent movies "Kaliber fünf Komma zwei" (20), "Die Herrin der Welt, 8. Teil: Die Rache der Maud Fergusson" (20), "Scherben" (21), "Die Gezeichneten" (22), "Tiefland" (23), "Wege zu Kraft und Schönheit" (25), "Der Meineidbauer" (26), "Der Zigeunerbaron "(27), "Die Weber" (27), "Der Biberpelz" (28), "Der geheime Kurier" (28) and "Napoleon auf St. Helena" (29). The movie "Hochverrat" (29) became his last cinematical work but he did not survive the shooting. During his work for this movie he was hit by a hoofbeat of a horse. He was insured in such a way that he died shortly afterwards. The movie was finished by the cinematographer Carl Hoffmann. His son Siegfried Weinmann became a cinematographer too.
