Ludwig Wolff

The director and writer Ludwig Wolff studied law after leaving school and wrote numerous successful novels from 1899 onwards, which made him popular in German-speaking countries.

In 1918 he came into contact with film when a book of his was filmed for the first time with "The Son of Hannibal" (18). Numerous other film adaptations followed which were based on his books.
Besides he also wrote some scripts himself like "The Prodigal Son" (18), "The Fate of Carola van Geldern" (19), "The Kwannon of Okadera" (20), "The Crash" (23), "The Love of a Queen" (23) and "Garragen" (24).

He also realised some movies as a director, among them "Steuermann Holk" (20), "Mata Hari" (20), "Die Bestie im Menschen" (21), "Die Spionin" (21), "Die Tännerin Navarro" (22), "Der Absturz" (23), "Die Liebe einer Königin" (23) and "Garragan" (24).

Because of his Jewish origin Ludwig Wolff emigrated to the USA.
