. The actor Charles Bryant left school at the age of only 14 to launch a career as an actor. He soon became established at the theater and in 1887 he went to the USA where he acted among others on Broadway in the play "The First Born". As a well-known theater actor he joined the film business in 1914 where he made his screen debut with "A Train of Incidents" (14). It followed regular engagements in front of the camera like "The Game of Thrills" (15), "The Spider" (15), "War Brides" (16) with Alla Nazimova with whom he lived together several years, "Revelation" (18), "Eye for Eye" (18) and "The Red Lantern" (19). His last movies as an actor came in 1920 into being with "The Heart of a Child" (20) and "Billions" (20), afterwards he was active as a author and also realised some movies as a director, among them "Stronger Than Death" (20), "A Doll's House" (22) and "Salome" (23). When "Salome" turned out to be a financial failure Charles Bryant retired
from the film business and concentrated again to the theater.
