1892 - 1980

The actor Edmund Burns began his film career at the end of the 10's. After first movies as an extra like "The Birth of a Nation" (15) directed by D. W. Griffith he already took part in numerous movies in his first years, among them "The Slave" (17), "Diamonds and Pearls" (17), "The Life Mask" (18), "The Ordeal of Rosetta" (18), "The Queen of Hearts" (18), "Miss Adventure" (19), "The Love Burglar" (19) and "Male and Female" (19).

The 20's marked the pinnacle of his career and he impersonated countless roles in productions like "To Please One Woman" (20), "Opened Shutters" (21), "The Ruling Passion" (22), "East Is West" (22), "The Dramatic Life of Abraham Lincoln" (24), "The Million Dollar Handicap" (25), "Der Farmer aus Texas" (25), "Made for Love" (26), "Poor Girls" (27), "Ransom" (28) and "She Goes to War" (29).

His roles became smaller with the arise of the talkies. To his movies of the 30's belong "Sea Devils" (31), "The Shadow of the Eagle" (32), "The Death Kiss" (32), "Female" (33), "It Happened One Night" (34), "Cleopatra" (34) and "Murder with Pictures" (36).
Afterwards he retired from the film business.
