1880 - 1963

Der Schauspieler Wyndham Standing wurde in eine schauspielernde Familie hineingeboren. Sein Vater Herbert Standing sr. Sowie seine Brüder Guy, Jack und Percy Standing waren ebenfalls Schauspieler.

Beim Theater debütierte er 1899 und in den nächsten Jahren spielte er regelmässig an verschiedenen Theatern, ehe er beim Film landete.

Seine Filmlaufbahn startete er 1915 mit "Extravagance" und er etablierte sich in den nächsten Jahren als vielbeschäftigter Darsteller mit "Business Is Business" (15), "The Wolf Woman" (16), "The Soul of a Magdalen" (17), "The Silence Sellers" (17), "The Life Mask" (18), "Eyes of the Soul" (19) und "The Isle of Conquest" (19).

In den 20er Jahren konnte er seine eindrückliche Karriere erfolgreich fortsetzen und er verkörperte zahlreiche Rollen in Produktionen wie "A Modern Salome" (20), "Blackmail" (20), "The Iron Trail" (21), "The Inner Man" (22), "The Lion's Mouse" (23), "Secrets" (24), "Flames of Desire" (24), "The Dark Angel" (25), "The Price of Divorce" (28) und "Power Over Men" (29).

Im Tonfilm der 30er Jahre sah man Wyndham Standing in Filmen wie "Hell's Angels" (30), "Billy the Kid" (30), "Dracula" (31), "Sadie McKee" (34), "Imitation of Life" (34), "Mary of Scotland" (36), "Kidnapped" (38), "The Man in the Iron Mask" (39) und "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" (39).

In den 40er Jahren entstanden seine letzten Filme, dazu gehören "Pride and Prejudice" (40), "The Son of Monte Cristo" (40), "Meet Jone Doe" (41), "Appointment in Berlin" (43), "Madame Curie" (43), "Meet the People" (44), "The Woman in the Window" (44), "The Sea of Grass" (47), "Ivy" (47) und "B.F.'s Daughter" (48).
