The actor Wyndham Standing was born into an acting family. His father
Herbert Standing sr.as well as his brothers Guy, Jack and Percy Standing
were also actors.
He made his stage debut in 1899 and he appeared regularly on stage in
the next years before he came to the film.
He began his film career in 1915 with "Extravagance" and he became established
as a much demanded actor in the next years with "Business Is Business"
(15), "The Wolf Woman" (16), "The Soul of a Magdalen" (17), "The Silence
Sellers" (17), "The Life Mask" (18), "Eyes of the Soul" (19) and "The Isle
of Conquest" (19).
He was able to continue his career successfully in the 20's and he impersonated
numerous roles in productions like "A Modern Salome" (20), "Blackmail"
(20), "The Iron Trail" (21), "The Inner Man" (22), "The Lion's Mouse" (23),
"Secrets" (24), "Flames of Desire" (24), "The Dark Angel" (25), "The Price
of Divorce" (28) and "Power Over Men" (29).
In the sound films of the 30's he took part in productions like "Hell's
Angels" (30), "Billy the Kid" (30), "Dracula" (31), "Sadie McKee" (34),
"Imitation of Life" (34), "Mary of Scotland" (36), "Kidnapped" (38), "The
Man in the Iron Mask" (39) and "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" (39).
His last movies came in the 40's into being and he acted in "Pride and
Prejudice" (40), "The Son of Monte Cristo" (40), "Meet Jone Doe" (41),
"Appointment in Berlin" (43), "Madame Curie" (43), "Meet the People" (44),
"The Woman in the Window" (44), "The Sea of Grass" (47), "Ivy" (47) and
"B.F.'s Daughter" (48).
