The actor Carl Raddatz took acting lesson in Mannheim and came to the
Mannheimer Nationaltheater by Willy Birgel. It followed engagements in
Aachen, Bremen and finally Berlin where he had his greatest successes.
He made his film debut in 193 and took part in the movies "Urlaub auf
Ehrenwort" (38), "Liebelei und Liebe" (38) as well as "Verklungene Melodie"
(38).
He soon became established as a screen star in the next years and appeared
in well-known productions like "Befreite Hände" (39), "Zwielicht"
(40), "Stukas" (41), "Der 5. Juni" (42), "Immensee" (43), "Opfergang" (44)
and "Unter den Brücken" (45).
He continued his career after the war and was a demanded actor especially
in the 50's.
To his most popular post-war movies belong "In jenen Tagen" (47), "Gabriela"
(50), "Epilog" (50), "Regina Amstetten" (53), "Rosen im Herbst" (55), "Made
in Germany - Ein Leben für Zeiss" (57) and "Das Mädchen Rosemarie"
(58).
His career ended slowly in the 60's. To his last cinematical works belong
"Verrat auf Befehl" (60), "The Coutnerfeit Traitor" (62), "Der Mann, der
sich Abel nannte" (66), "Jeder stirbt für sich allein" (75), die Serie
"Die Buddenbrooks" (79) and an episode of the serial "Derrick: Solo für
vier" (90).
He always remained true to the theater and impersonated many interesting
roles which heaved him to the guild of leading character actors.
Besides his activity as an actor he also dubbed stars like Humphrey
Bogart, Robert Taylor and Lee Marvin.
Carl Raddatz was among others married with the actress Hannelore Schroth.
